David Kolb, CPA, MBT

David is the President of Global Tax Network US, LLC and focuses exclusively on providing Expatriate and Foreign National tax services to corporate and individual clients. Prior to combining with GTN, David was the President and founder of Hemisphere Tax Services, LLC, a boutique firm that specialized in expatriate and foreign national tax preparation and consulting, encompassing pre-assignment planning through repatriation. David began his career at KPMG, where he was a Tax Senior Manager in their International Executive Services practice. David is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. He received his undergraduate degree from Mankato State University, and holds a Master of Business Taxation from the University of Minnesota.

Stephen Daas, CPA

Steve is the Chief Operating Officer of Global Tax Network US, LLC with over twenty-two years of experience assisting clients in developing strategies to minimize the cost (including the global tax effects) and maximize the effectiveness of international assignments. He has also assisted clients with the design of compensation packages, the review and development of international mobility policies, international personal financial counseling, global equity taxation consulting, and administration process reviews.

Prior to joining GTN, Steve was a Partner with the Ernst & Young global mobility practice in San Jose, CA and Singapore. During his 3-½ year assignment in Singapore, he coordinated the global mobility area wide services for a number of large accounts in the Asia Pacific region. Steve spent the first thirteen years of his career in the Minneapolis office global mobility practices of E&Y and Arthur Andersen.

Steve received his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. He is active in Carlson School alumni activities, including the mentorship and scholarship programs.

Raj Azad, CPA, MBT

Raj is a Client Service Director in the GTN Minneapolis office with over 12 years experience assisting clients with tax, Human Resources, and accounting aspects of international assignments. Before joining GTN, Raj was a Tax Manager in the International Assignment Solutions practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers; he began his career at E&Y, Kuwait, where he was responsible for assisting international corporate clients with tax audits. Raj holds a Master of Business Taxation from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management; he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants, and an inactive member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Jill Gillis Mikolajczak, CPA

Jill is the Managing Director of the Northern CA office. She has worked with a variety of multi-national companies and their international transferees over the last 18 years.

She has lived and worked in India and South Korea and has traveled extensively throughout United States, Asia, South and Central America, Mexico, and Europe for her Clients. This broad range of experience allows her to share knowledge on the personal and business rewards and challenges of living and working in another country. Moreover, Jill's understanding of business cultures and management styles gives her unique positioning to deliver insights into working with individuals from other countries.

Previously, Jill worked for E&Y, Arthur Andersen, and Deloitte as a Senior Tax Manager in their expatriate tax practices. Her experience includes industries such as controls, automation, automotive, manufacturing, consumer products, beverage, oil and gas, and communications.

Jill received her degree in Business Administration from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee majoring in accounting. Jill is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Carol Rutlen, CPA

Carol is Senior Director, Business Development for GTN, bringing over 25 years of experience with extensive concentration in tax and human resource issues associated with international tax, expatriate assignments, and global stock plans. She understands the challenges of multifaceted, global problems first hand from both an internal and external perspective. Carol was previously a Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers and was the partner-in-charge of their global stock practice and the International Assignment Services practice in northern California. Carol also founded and served as CEO of ExpatEdge®, a software company focusing on the unique needs of mobile employees.

Carol is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, California Society of CPAs, the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals, Global Equity Organization, and the Western International Personnel Association. She has served on the Certified Equity Professional Institute (CEPI) Advisory Board since 2000, serving as chair in 2005 – 2006. She currently serves as project leader for the CEPI Guidance - Procedures - System publication. Carol is listed in various Who's Who registries and is an adjunct professor in the Master of Tax program at San Jose State University. She is a frequent speaker and has published articles on tax planning, compensation, and benefits.

Beth Bedford, CPA

Beth is Director, Compliance Services for GTN, where she is responsible for developing and overseeing the tax compliance function. Beth began her international tax career with Deloitte, where most recently she was a Manager in their Midland, MI office. She has over 10 years of international tax experience managing engagements and working with a wide variety of clients such as Compuware, The Dow Chemical Company, Dow Corning, General Motors, Union Carbide and others. Beth is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She received her accountancy degree from Northern Arizona University.

New York

Christopher Hall, CTA

Christopher is Managing Director of the New York office and has more than twelve years of experience in expatriate tax compliance and consulting. Having worked in the UK, Canada, and the U.S., Christopher has significant experience in a wide variety of expatriate related topics including Social Security, pensions, treaty application and planning, and compensation and policy issues. As an expatriate himself, he adds personal experience to the technical knowledge that relates directly to the challenges of making cross border moves. After receiving a BA (Honours) in Economics from the University of Leeds, Christopher began his career in the UK with Arthur Andersen. He is UK tax qualified and an Overseas Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in the UK. Prior to joining GTN, Christopher worked in Deloitte's expatriate tax practice in Toronto and New York for over nine years.

Mary Lou Stockton, CPA, MsBA

Mary Lou is the Managing Director of the Philadelphia office. She has over 15 years experience providing expatriate tax services with Ernst & Young in Philadelphia. Her clients have included a large pharmaceutical manufacturer, a large global software consulting company, and many smaller companies that were just starting up their overseas activities. She has also worked in the corporate tax environment, having been Director of Tax with a national US retailer. Mary Lou received her undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College, and her Masters of Science in Business Administration from Temple University.
